“This was real life. And the beginning of a special, regular story where two people meet and help each other make something beautiful, at the risk of making a mess. No, this ain’t no movie. This is a mirror. This me. This her. This us. This is real.”

Thoughts - This is a sweet, easy read. The tone is captured perfectly in the quote above. There is no epic drama at the center of the story, though it is lightly hinted at on the periphery. This is two kids doing their best to love one another as they learn, together and separately, what love is. While I don’t know that I would read this again (though I’m not staunchly opposed or anything), it is definitely a book I would recommend to act as a springboard for conversation with teenagers about respect and consent and care.
